Welcome to Fernhavenly. These terms cover how you may use this site. They’re written to be readable rather than intimidating, but they are the actual terms, so it’s worth two minutes.
By browsing, commenting, subscribing or downloading anything here, you’re agreeing to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.

1. What this site is
Fernhavenly publishes ideas, opinions and personal experience about decorating small homes and keeping houseplants alive. It is written by one person based on their own home, their own mistakes and their own research.
It is not professional advice. Not interior design advice, not horticultural advice, not veterinary advice, not legal advice about your tenancy, and not financial advice. If a decision matters, check with someone qualified before you act on something you read here.
2. Using the site
You’re welcome to read, save, print for yourself, share links, and pin whatever you like. Please don’t:
- Copy posts, in whole or in substantial part, onto another site
- Republish, translate or repackage content as your own
- Scrape the site automatically or use it to train a model without written permission
- Attempt to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to the site
- Use anything here for anything unlawful
3. Copyright and pinning
All original text, images, graphics and printables on this site belong to Fernhavenly and are protected by copyright.
Pinning is actively encouraged. You may pin any image from this site to Pinterest as long as the pin links back to the original post. That’s the whole arrangement and no permission is needed.
Sharing a link with a short quote and credit is fine anywhere.
Using an image elsewhere, including in a roundup post, requires that you use one image only, credit Fernhavenly clearly, and link back to the original post. Do not copy the recipe of the idea, the full list, or the accompanying text.
Printables and free downloads are for personal use in your own home. Please don’t sell them, redistribute them, or host the file yourself. Send people to the download page instead.
Some product images on this site are supplied by retailers and affiliate partners and remain their property. Those may not be reused.
If you’d like to use something in a way not covered here, ask. The answer is usually yes.
4. Comments and anything you submit
You keep ownership of what you write in comments, but by posting you give Fernhavenly a non exclusive, royalty free licence to display, store and moderate it on the site.
Comments that are spam, abusive, hateful, defamatory, off topic, or stuffed with links get deleted without discussion. I don’t owe anyone a comment section and I moderate as I see fit. Comments are not reviewed before they appear, so opinions in them belong to whoever wrote them, not to me.
Don’t post anything you don’t have the right to post, and don’t include personal information about other people.
5. Affiliate links and advertising
Some links here are affiliate links, meaning I earn a commission if you buy through them at no additional cost to you. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases. The site also carries display advertising.
I recommend things I’d use, but I don’t manufacture, sell, ship or guarantee any of them. Every purchase you make is a contract between you and that retailer. Returns, faults, delays, damaged plants, wrong sizes and customer service are entirely theirs to handle. If something arrives wrong, contact the seller, and then tell me so I can fix the recommendation.
Prices and availability change constantly. Anything quoted in a post was accurate when written and may not be now.
6. Plants, pets and children
This matters more than the rest of this page, so it gets its own section.
Many common houseplants are toxic to cats, dogs and small children if chewed or eaten. Where I know a plant is a problem I say so, but do not rely on this site as your only source. Check the ASPCA toxic plant database or ask your vet before bringing any plant into a home with animals or young children.
Plants also vary. Care advice here reflects average indoor conditions and my own home. Your light, humidity, water quality and heating are different. Nothing here guarantees your plant will survive, and I’m not responsible if it doesn’t.
Some people react to soil, sap, pollen or fertiliser. If you have allergies or sensitive skin, wear gloves and take your own precautions.
7. Decorating, DIY and your tenancy
Ideas described as “renter friendly” or “no drill” reflect what has worked in my home and what is generally considered reversible. They are not a promise about your lease, your landlord, your walls or your deposit.
Read your tenancy agreement and ask your landlord before making changes. Adhesive hooks damage some paint. Some walls won’t hold what you hang on them. Some buildings have rules about balconies, window boxes and drilling that have nothing to do with what’s reasonable.
If you take on anything involving tools, ladders, electricity, heavy items or heights, you are responsible for doing it safely and within your own competence. Get a professional where a professional is warranted.
8. Accuracy
I try hard to get things right and I correct things when I get them wrong. Even so, everything here is provided as is. I don’t warrant that the site will be accurate, complete, current, uninterrupted or error free.

9. Links to other sites
Posts link out to retailers, brands, blogs and reference sites. Those are not under my control, and a link is not an endorsement of everything on the destination. Once you leave, their terms and their privacy policy apply.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Fernhavenly and its operator are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of this site or anything you do as a result of it. That includes damage to property, plants, pets or possessions, financial loss, and loss of data.
Nothing here excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you’re a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
11. Availability
The site may go down, move, change or disappear. Posts get updated, rewritten and occasionally deleted. There’s no promise that anything published here stays available.
12. Privacy
How your data is handled is set out separately in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
13. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated. The date at the top will change when they are. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new version, so glance at the date occasionally.
